You got to be kidding

While surfing on the 'ol net today, I came across the following about a swear word that was heard on the broadcast of the Food City 500 at Bristol (NASCAR race)

http://familypolicy.net/us-a/?p=421

Now. I watched the race. and I realize that the track they competed at is a very tough race track, and tempers tend to flare....As a result the, while monitoring an incar radio, a crew chief for a driver that just got crashed out uttered a slang term for poop...Now the link I have is pointed to a "Family first" website, that is upset because they thing NASCAR has a "Swearing problem."

NASCAR has a profanity problem. It seems that every now and then, a participant in a nationally-televised race will violate the FCC’s clear rules against uttering vulgar terms on daytime television and “let one slip” on the air.

First, Family First appears to be a lobbying group that takes itself WAY to seriously...

After all the races I've watched, this has only happened once in a great while...now. When the "s word" is slipped once in a 4 hour broadcast. I’m sure that's going to stunt a Childs growth, prevent him from getting into the best schools, and going to cause the child to move into the basement for the rest of his life, playing nothing but Evercraft, and NASCAR Racing...Come on People. Get off your farking high horse...Chances are the kids they are so concerned about has heard worse at school, or on the playground..Hell, when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I heard stuff that would make truckers blush..Now..Granted, if a driver or someone lets something slip on an interview, that's difference.. They know they are on air and should be dealt with accordly by NASCAR. But this is a joke. You are listing to a Private conversion between 2 or more members of a crew chief. It's going to happen. I don't think its NASCAR that has a problem, but it's people of "Family policy" that is. They need to get the 10 foot telephone pole out of their ass... Chances are, these people don't even watch the races. Other then to see "Who is going to swear today"... or something like that.. ..They are part of the "Lets Bitch" generation.. Basically. .if they don't like something, they’d bitch about it, until someone else caves to their views...

signs of spring, and the real reason we got no snow

Well..it's warming up now. The signs of spring are here.. flowers are starting to show, people are cleaning up their lawns and gardens, kids are playing baseball in the street, and our yard smells like dog crap..(Draw back to owning 2 large dogs)..over this winter I think we have gotten a total of about 6 inches of snow. A fairly light amount considering our seasonal average is around 25 inches. Now. The general thought is that we had a warm winter because of global warming, and that in 20 years time the world is going to be nothing more then a giant globe of water..well..They are wrong. The real reason we got no snow this year. I bought a snow blower last fall...That's right. After our first winter at the 'Ol house spending more timer shoveling snow more then sleeping we thought it was a good idea. ..it seemed like every 2 or 3 days we was getting 20 inches of snow. After all that my Wife, and myself decided late last fall to take a plunge and get a snow blower. It's nothing major. It was in our price range (The cheapest we could find). And as a result I only used it twice and that was both in earlier January...Heck..The first time I used it, it was litterly putting it together in a snow storm., and I got it done just time to clean off the driveway....used it then, and a second time. and that was it..Everytime I watched the weather forecast "blizzard Bill" to predict 4 inches or more of snow...."Kewl!!!" I would say to myself "I can use the snow blower tonight"...Well. Our 4 inches was more like a dusting. twice 4 inches turned our to be nothing...So waiting in my shed was the new slow blower. just had the new knocked off it, and nothing else....What I want to know. it why that didn't work with my yard last year when I got a mower.. I mowed and mowed and the grass keep growing. Based on the history of the snow blower, it shouldn't have been growing..right?..Then based on that I guess if you have an umbrella it won't rain, and if you have a bottle of Pepto-Bismol you will never have explosive diarrhea....Oh well..It knows it rains; our grass grows, and well. I won't talk about the other..:)

Star Trek vs NASCAR

For most of my life, I've had 2 primary interests (3 if you count computers) Star Trek, and NASCAR..While attending events for both, I've begun to realize that the fans are really same. Think about it...Both groups will stand in long lines hours, in 100 Degree heat to get an autograph. Both fans will spend money on inflated prices for hotels, camping, etc..or try to cram as many people into a hotel room that is possible. Fly or Drive endless hours to attend an event. Normaly the fan will attend the event from Friday evening and go home Sunday nite either drunk or hung over. While at the event will spend most of the weekend drinking (Yes..Trekers drink. Trust me..And well, I think it's a national law for NASCAR fans) both sides will purchase or create "costumes" at/for those Events. In most cases they will primary be red.. (Red shirts Vs Jr fans) they will construct rooms, or other shrines inside of their houses. I've read of people that recreated the bridge of the Star Ship Enterprise in their basement, and also saw a guy that constructed a version Jeff Gordon's around their crapper...In both cases it seems appropriate. Fans will also put all kinds of stickers, and in rare cases paint their cars like a shuttle craft, or The Big Brown Truck. Personal I've had a Kyle Petty sticker and a "Klingon Warrior Acdemdy" sticker on my car at the same, and took great pride of it. People will plan their vacations around conventions, races, and other events.. Countless websites are created. The Silly Season Website http://www.jayski.com as well as trektoday http://www.trektoday.com/,but the thing that I noticed the most is how everyone is treated the same..No matter who/what you are with both groups...Fans are fans. It doesn't matter who you are, or what you are, or what issues you have..People who you only see once or twice a year, and even complete strangers will treat you like their best friends.

Wow..I didn't think it would end..

Well after 3 weeks of fighting a cold, sinus infection, a reaction to the antibotic they gave me for the the infection, and a extreme case the runs, that was a result of an infection that I got from the reaction of the antobotics to fight off the first infection, I can safely (I think) say we are feeling better. On top of all that Christy (My wife for those of you who don't know me) broke her leg and had to spend some sheet time in the first aid station (Not to be confused with the sheet time I spent in the bathroom).Anyways..with us feeling better, I'm hopeing that I can get to posting to this more often then I planned, but life has a funny thing of telling you what to do and where to go. On the bright side, my beloved won a IPOD Shuffle that I have been playing with. (I'm the computer geek in the famly, so she handed it to me, and said "Make it work") and been having fun with that....in the mean time I hope that all our readers (both of you) keep comeing back..Also as a side note we are planning on setting up one of these blog thingies for Christy, and I'm looking for a spell check plug in for me..;).

Thoughts..

Have you every thought that ......

.....Putting theToiliet paper in the freezer was a good idea.

....You wish you could check your nose in at the door of the bathroom

.... After you are in the bathroom You feel you need to inspect the toilet for cracks..

.....When you are in the bathroom, the screaming you hear is your own.

.....about installing a TV in the bathroom

.....that not installing the smoke alarm in the bathroom was a good idea.

.....you heard the famly pet pass out, outside of the bathroom door.

....That replacing the wall paper in the bathroom is suddenly a good idea

....installing a place to keep a Gas Mask in the bathroom.

....that you wished you bought the toiliet paper with the lotion, that last time you were at the store.

....That an Jerry Springer epsodie isn't nearly as painfull as you current bathroom experiance.

....that you feel like a root beer dispenser
