Racing Season Starts TODAY!!!

The real reason season for the Toledo area starts today. Toledo Speedway, and tomorrow Flat Rock both have thier opening weekends. Both tracks are owned and managment by ARCA. This is raceing when it's fun. It's not the overly sanitized racing of NASCAR. Drivers still have personitles. They fight for postion on the track, and if they don't like it, they get out of the cars and just fight. If they arn't raceing, they are in the stands watching other cars compete. It's Grassroots racing at it's finist. If you have the chance, and you are even a casual NASCAR fan go atleast once.

Drive by Bible Thumping

Yesterday, while me and my wiife were walking around the neighboorhood we saw what could be best discribed as a drive by, by the Mormans.. Accross the street from our house, there were a bunch of kids playing, and walking on the sidewalk on that side of the street was a a couple with there daughter. A gold (colored) Toyota comes flying down the road..and sudden stops in the street. In what kinda resembles tactics that I've seen from a gang, but they all in suits with bibles in hands start to harass the kids, and appears they look like they are trying to mug the couple. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I needed to call the cops, or a preacher. Now that I think about it, they kinda resembed the Blue's Brothers. They did hit my house..Damn... Note:.We the moment we have 3 dogs living at the house, and you would think that with a "Beware of dog" and " no solilcating sign" on the front door, they would go onto an other house..but no!!!..they didn't... They knocked, which caused resulting 2 dogs trying to eat the mormins. (hint: one of the dogs is part German Shepard). needless to say, after tryied to convernt them over to the relegion of the mice. (Not to mention try to explain to them the true meaning of the #42) They decided to leave...quickly..:)

Nice move NBC..Shame on you.

Last week at the NASCAR race in Martinsville, Virginia, in an effect to make news NBC's Dateline dressed a couple of fans up as Muslims, and gave them hidden cameras to show how "racist" NASCAR fans are.
Link to the store at NASCAR.COM In short, instead of covering the news, they decided to go out and make news. Not the first time that a media outlet has tried to make news, and I’m sure not the last time. In my personal observations of NASCAR fans, and racing fans on a local level, the only stereo type that exists is the ones that are placed on the fans by the outside world. The weekly races that myself and my wife attend in Flat Rock and Toledo have a diverse group. In both cases it’s not a white, black or Muslim atmosphere, but a family one. Parents of all races bring their children out to enjoy a family night at the races. You don’t hear much of family outings anymore. For many reasons the family unit has been trashed and forced into hiding. But go to your local race track, and you will see it first hand. The powers at NBC are just trying to make a story when there isn’t any. Shame on them! Are they jealous because they lost the NASCAR broadcast rights after this year, or are they trying to take one of remaining American pastimes and screw it up for everyone? Come to think about it, in an effect to show racists, NBC was being racists themselves, by assuming that a part of the population was going to act based on one thing and that thing was the fact that they were race fans. Isn’t this the same thing as assuming a black is a gang banger, Mexicans are lazy, or every Muslims is going to blow you up? The fact of the matter is blacks are not gang bangers, Mexicans are not lazy, Muslims are not going to blow you up, and race fans are not racists. For the record, none of the NASCAR fans bit. No fights broke out, and NBC was sent home without a story, and their tails in between their legs.

Alot of stuff for Easter.

This easter, we are going to have some membes of my wife's family (as well as my own) over for the first time. As a result, We our 2 year old niece, Madison will be visiting our hourse for the first time. it's also going to be the first vist to the house of my wife's sister, and her Boyfriend. Anyways..since it's Madison's first real Easter, my wife went out last week to by the normal items that a kid would like for Easter. Well..ALOT of the normal stuff. Some of the items include jelly beans, easter basket, grass, candy bunnys, Peeps, small woodland creatures, Playstation 3, sunglasses, personal servert, winning lottery ticket, new car..etc...I wouldn't say she got alot, but the PODS storage unit is set to be here some time next week...:)....When she started putting the stuff together, She had to get a extra bucket, or 20, to put the items that didn't fit into the easter basket..Thanks to my wife, that owner ofJelly Belly can now go on that trip to tour greater africa. Our dining room is getting taken over with tons of pastel colored candy and other assorted items. Looking at all this stuff makes me wonder , Should a 2 year old get her weight in candy for easter?
